Cold Lake

Twin Treehouses, 1200 square-foot Modern Mountain homes in Cherry Log, Georgia.

Contractor : Owner Builder

Partnered : Reynard Custom Homes

Cold Lake is an award winning pair of bespoke treehouse-style retreats nestled deep within the forest of Cherry Log, Georgia. Designed as twin but distinct homes, each structure offers 1,200 square feet of highly curated living space, elevated among the trees to create an immersive mountain experience rooted in play, retreat, and connection to nature.

Each treehouse includes two bedrooms and two bathrooms, but the design goes far beyond a conventional layout. Lofted interior spaces, double-height volumes, and large expanses of glazing create dynamic interiors that feel both expansive and intimate. Every room is carefully positioned to frame views into the surrounding canopy, allowing the forest to become a constant presence throughout the homes.

Outdoor living is central to the experience. Multiple decks and entertaining areas extend outward from each structure, blurring the line between interior and exterior. Unique features such as private saunas, elevated balconies, and a slide descending directly from an upper-level deck reinforce the playful, experiential nature of the project, making each stay memorable and distinct.

Despite their elevated and unconventional form, the homes are grounded in thoughtful planning and buildable solutions. The structures are carefully threaded between existing trees, minimizing site disturbance while maximizing engagement with the landscape below. Shared and private outdoor spaces are layered vertically, creating a sense of discovery as guests move through the homes and the site.

Cold Lake reflects our approach to custom mountain and short-term rental design in North Georgia: architecture that embraces creativity, responds sensitively to its environment, and transforms the natural setting into an integral part of the living experience.
