Twisted Oak
2800 square-foot Modern Mountain home in Talking Rock, Georgia.
Contractor : Watkins Home Builders
Partnered : Reynard Custom Homes
Twisted Oak is a 2,800 square foot custom mountain home designed to take full advantage of its elevated site in Talking Rock, Georgia. Organized across two main levels with a finished basement below, the home balances generous shared spaces with comfortable private retreats, all oriented toward expansive mountain views.
At the heart of the design is a dramatic double-height living space that brings together the living room, kitchen, and dining area into a single open-plan volume. Large windows and doors open directly onto a rear deck, visually extending the interior into the landscape and framing uninterrupted views of the surrounding North Georgia mountains. The vertical scale of the space allows light to pour in throughout the day, creating a strong sense of connection between interior, exterior, and horizon.
The home includes four bedrooms and three bathrooms, carefully distributed to support both everyday living and hosting guests. Lower-level spaces provide additional flexibility, whether used for recreation, quiet retreat, or overflow accommodations, while maintaining clear separation from the main living areas above.
Architecturally, Twisted Oak reflects a modern mountain sensibility, combining traditional forms with clean detailing and site-responsive planning. Outdoor living areas play a central role in the design, reinforcing the home’s relationship to the terrain and allowing occupants to fully engage with the views, seasons, and natural surroundings.
Twisted Oak exemplifies our approach to custom home design in North Georgia: thoughtful spatial planning, strong indoor–outdoor connections, and architecture that is shaped as much by the site as by the way the home is lived in.
